Cloudwide Extranet can provide your business with a secure online space to distribute information to authorised users (customers or staff). It performs a similar function to an Intranet, except that it is hosted ‘in the cloud’ instead of on your own local server. The benefits of this are that 8bits manage the software, server, updates and backups - so you don't have to.
Access to the Extranet is available to any authorised user that has a computer and an internet connection via a web browser. No special software is required. Once logged in, using it is very similar to using a website, so there is no training required.

Every Cloudwide Extranet is custom built for each customer. Look and feel can be made to match company branding, and in many cases can even be made to match the design of an existing company website. If the Extranet is part of a new project, then the design will compliment that of the new website.
User Management
Users can belong to different groups. Each group can be set-up so they only have access to content that is relevant to them. For example, you could have different price lists for different customers. Each customer could belong to a different group, so they would only have access to price lists and documentation that pertains to them.
Users are managed by authorised administrators. Administrators can be anyone from within the company that the Extranet has been built for.
Security and Statistics
Cloudwide Extranet can be configured so that it uses Secure Socket Layers (SSL) encryption. This encrypts the connection between the users browser and the Extranet. Using SSL greatly reduces the chances of anyone intercepting the data being uploaded or downloaded from the Extranet. It's the same method that banks use to encrypt your connection when you use online banking services.
Statistics of who has accessed the system, what pages they looked at and when they looked at them, are available from within the admin section.

Private School
A private school needed a secure online space to store documents and information for the school’s board. They wanted to be able to create HTML pages with board specific information about board meetings, finance, infrastructure and maintenance, strategic development, project planning and policies. They also wanted to be able to have their Agenda's, Minutes and other documents available for download.
Solution
Cloudwide Extranet was used to provide the school with a secure Extranet that only board members could access. The Extranet look and feel was customised to match the design and branding of the schools website.
Each board member was provided with their own unique login which enabled them to access the Extranet, view pages and download documents. SSL was implemented so that all connections to the Extranet were encrypted.
Content is managed by administrators that work for the school. They are able to upload documents and files and embed them in HTML pages for board members to download. The admin staff also manage the users that have access to the system.
